How to build a great first layer The first layer for 3d printing is very important. With bad first layer, the whole printing will fail. Here are some tips may help us make better first layer. 1. Build plate leveling Keep a good distance between nozzles and build plate. Too close, the nozzle will scratch the plate; too far, the first layer won’t stick to plate. We could put an A4 paper on build plate, and then move the nozzle on it. Pull the paper out without damage the paper and strength. Test: print a model first to check if first layer is ok and if the print could be finished well. 2. Set 5 ℃ higher for the first layer Higher temperature will fully melt the filament and make it stickier. This helps the first layer stick to build plate well. Based on our experience, 5 ℃ would be good. 3. Slow down the print speed Slow printing speed will reduce the strings when nozzles extrude filament...
